ESG Just Doesn’t Work

Thursday Apr 20, 2023
Description Episode Air Date: April 20, 2023
We discuss whether ESG actually works as an investment score. Spoiler, ESG doesn’t work.
In early 2022, Harvard Business Review published an article titled "An Inconvenient Truth about ESG Investing," which delves into the effectiveness of ESG as an investment score. Despite its popularity, evidence suggests that ESG is largely ineffective in generating returns for investors. This inefficacy can be attributed to several factors, including greenwashing and companies using ESG as a PR strategy to distract from past performance issues.
We also discuss Ron DeSantis and his hamfisted attempts to fight back against ESG using state powers. It’s a general misstep that politicians use rather than attempting to resolve the issue at its root.

Here we explore the the inherent instabilities in fractional reserve banking as well as how interest rates work under the gold standard. As a proponent of free markets and liberty, I want to show how the gold standard provides a stable and predictable monetary system that is superior to central bank FIAT currencies.
We discuss the mechanics of fractional reserve banking and how it can lead to inflation and economic instability. We will also explain how the gold standard creates a natural limit on government spending and encourages responsible fiscal policies. Furthermore, we will delve into the role of interest rates in a gold standard economy, how they are determined by the supply and demand for money from banks, and how they act as a natural mechanism for stabilizing the economy
